Learning New Ways for Spring Cleaning Your Business

April 17, 2025 / By Barbara Weltman

Learning New Ways for Spring Cleaning Your BusinessTraditionally, Spring is the time for individuals to clean out their homes…and for businesses to do the same. But moving beyond traditional approaches to spring cleaning, GiGO Clean Technology Inc., an app offering on-demand cleaning services by connecting customers to cleaners directly, says:

“The world of hygiene and cleaning is evolving rapidly, driven by technological advancements, sustainability efforts, and changing consumer preferences.”

If you take the time to do spring cleaning for your business, here are some ideas to do things in new ways.

AI-powered cleaning

AI isn’t just for CRM, marketing, and research. It can also be used to enhance janitorial services you may use for your business. AI in this regard can reduce your bill. According to one source, AI can produce:

  • Precision scheduling. For example, AI can be used to analyze foot traffic patterns to optimize cleaning schedules.
  • Predictive maintenance. For example, AI sensors can detect programs, such as poor air quality requiring cleaning of air ducts, so that you don’t have to wait until critical issues arise.
  • Customized cleaning solutions. For example, AI can inform what’s needed for cleaning protocols in office space.
  • Enhanced safety and compliance. For example, healthcare facilities, such as a doctor’s office, may require special sanitation to meet regulations; AI can monitor this need so it can be addressed accordingly.

Robotics

Autonomous robots can perform tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping with minimal human oversight. You’re probably familiar with home robotic vacuum cleaners such as iRobot Roomba, but there are commercial grade vacuums as well.

In fact, automatic cleaning equipment is available for vacuuming, mopping, and floor scrubbing. My hairdresser uses a combination iRobot to vacuum and mop her salon’s floors overnight.

There are also robotics for sanitizing (e.g., an ultraviolet disinfecting lamp; a robot spraying disinfectant). And there is an all-in-one commercial cleaning robot that integrates “floor washing, vacuuming and dust pushing, and allows for 24/7 independent charging, self-cleaning, drainage, water filling with a full-featured base station.” When assessing whether the cost of robotics for cleaning is worth it, don’t ignore tax write-offs that can effectively reduce your real expenditures. For example, an S corporation with one owner buys a $5,500 robot to the wash floors and uses first-year expensing to deduct the full cost upfront. If the owner is in the 35% tax bracket, the after-tax cost is only $3,575 ($5,500 – $1,925 tax savings).

If you have a home office, then household robotic solutions can help you spring clean your business space…and the rest of your residence.

Sustainability concerns

Sustainability means taking action to reduce your carbon footprints and minimize or avoid waste. Keep in mind: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. For cleaning your office space or other business facility in a sustainable way, use eco-friendly products. Look for non-toxic, biodegradable, and refillable cleaning products. For example, All-Green offers a full line of eco-friendly green cleaning products.

Final thought

Spring cleaning may not be the most fun activity you can do in your business. But if you approach it with new ideas—using AI and robotics and keeping sustainability in mind—you can move forward with a better space.
