Worker classification initiative not a success

That’s according to a report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). In 2011, the IRS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Labor to share information in order to reduce worker misclassification. The report said the IRS has not effectively implemented the MOU; the IRS and DOL haven’t developed the robust information exchange envisioned by the MOU.
