Today, with remote work arrangements, employers need to know whether their local laws apply to employees who work remotely. For example, New York City changed its Paid Safe and Sick Leave regulations, effective today, to make it clear that an employee who performs work outside the city (including telecommuting) is not considered “employed” for these regulations even though the employer is within the city.
