On January 1, California’s Consumer Privacy Rights Act took effect, giving consumers the right to opt out of having companies sell their data (i.e., it protects consumers’ email and other data). The law applies to companies in California with at least one employee and over $25 million in revenue. The same law applies to employment data. Other states—Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia—have similar laws poised to go into effect soon. #IdeaoftheDay
