Today represents a big day for many retailers, restaurants, and other businesses. The National Retail Federation (NRF) expects a record $27.5 billion to be spent today (up from $25.8 billion last year). NRF says the most popular gift categories this year include candy (56%), flowers (40%), greeting cards (40%), an evening out (35%), and jewelry (22%) and the most popular shopping destinations are online (38%), department stores (34%), discount stores (29%), and florists and specialty stores (each with 18%). #IdeaoftheDay
