Many small businesses are having problems filling positions, leaving then understaffed. NFIB found that 34% of small business owners had job openings they could not fill. In certain industries or companies, are there levels at which it becomes unsafe to be understaffed? There are no federal laws addressing staffing levels, but employers have a duty under federal law to “furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.” It’s easy to see that understaffing may pose safety concerns in some situations and employers need to address this. #IdeaoftheDay
