Since 1983, National Inventors’ Day is celebrated as a day to recognize the contributions that inventors have made to our country and the world. This day was selected because it’s the birthday of Thomas Alva Edison, who had over 1,000 patents. But invention continues, with 346,152 U.S. patents granted in the government’s fiscal year 2023.
