Nearly all government offices, businesses, schools, and other organizations are closed today. Despite the pandemic, today essentially begins the busiest travel period in the year, although the peak travel day for Thanksgiving was yesterday. AAA predicts that more than 50 million travelers will be traveling more than 50 miles from home during this Thanksgiving, down from 55 million last year due to concerns about COVID-19. The vast majority of holiday travelers will drive to their destination; air travel is down by about half (the largest one-year decline on record).
