If you’re seeking a refund because of a research credit, the IRS updated the procedures to follow. The refund claim must include certain information. It may be provided as an explanation to an amended return or a refund claim. The IRS can only accept information provided on paper or submitted through a fax; the IRS can’t accept information provided through other forms (e.g., portable electronic storage devices).
