Tax Freedom Day (TFD) is the day when the nation as a whole has earned enough to pay its federal, state, and local tax bill for the year. This year, Tax Freedom Day is today, April 16. Last year it was on April 19 (3 days later than this year). However, residents of different states have different TFD after adjusting for their state tax burdens. For example, NY’s TFD doesn’t come until May 3; it was March 25 in AK.
