Workers are protected by federal employment laws on pregnancy and lactation/breastfeeding. States may pass laws that give specific protections and rights to workers, but they may not reduce or limit the protections provided by federal laws. The DOL’s map shows states with pregnancy discrimination laws, those with laws protecting lactation/breastfeeding, those with both, and those with none.
