New data from Kabbage shows that 58% of small businesses started with less than $25,000 and one-third started with less than $5,000. The most expensive types of small businesses to launch are restaurants, medical offices, and manufacturing companies; 38%, 23%, and 19%, respectively, claiming it cost more than $100,000 to begin. The 3 types of small businesses that required the least amount of startup capital ($5,000 or less during the first 6 months) are accounting (45%), online retail (44%) and construction and landscaping (39%).
