According to the National Retail Federation, projected spending for today could exceed $4.4 billion, with average spending of $35.37 (down from $36.52 last year). Those ages 25 to 34 spend the most. Expenditures include food and beverages, clothing, and decorations. Hallmark offers 38 different items for today.
