According to the National Retail Federation, projected spending for today could exceed $5.9 billion (the highest in its survey history), with average spending of $39.65 (up from $37.92 last year). Expenditures include food and beverages, clothing, and decorations; 83% plan to wear green. Hallmark offers 53 different items for today.
