Two years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court said it was permissible for a state to require remote sellers to collect and remit sales tax on transactions with their residents. Most states now impose this requirement, although there’s a small business exception (it varies from state to state). For those not exempt from this responsibility, Avalara has a new product to handle their sales tax return preparation.
