With the start of the fiscal year on July 1 for many states and municipalities, a number of jurisdictions have increased their sales tax rates. For example, the rate in South Dakota increased from 4% to 4.5%. Rates in a number of localities in Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, and other states have hiked their rates. If you are not in these locations but collect sales tax on remote sales, be sure to check your collection obligations.
