That’s the title of a report from Brightpearl on why the introduction of “try before you buy” (TBYB) services (ordering multiple items to decide which one to buy) could hurt retailers. At present, 85% of consumers expect free returns. The report predicts that 25% of retailers worldwide will adopt TBYB policy but are unprepared for the surge of returns (expected to quadruple). Shipping and handling charges will squeeze margins.
