In 1950 only one in 20 jobs required an occupational license; today it’s one in 4. In an effort to reform licensing requirements and increase portability of state licenses, the U.S. Department of Labor is offering grants to states and associations for this effort. If successful, this effort will lead to streamlining of licensing and enable those who relocate frequently (e.g., spouses of military members) to be licensed in new locations.
