During COVID-19, employers were given temporary flexibility to review worker documents for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. This ends tomorrow. Now employers must complete in-person physical document inspections for employees for new hires. There’s a 30-day grace period—to August 30, 2023—to review documents of existing employees that were inspected remotely during the period of temporary flexibility.
