That’s what the U.S. Department of Labor is hoping the private sector will develop. It’s offering grants to non-profit organizations to develop such retirement plans. The plans would be meant for those who traditionally lack access to retirement plans, such as low-wage workers and independent contractors. The deadline for applications is August 26, 2016.
