Tomorrow, a new New York law goes into effect, requiring employers to provide 20-minute paid breaks for breast milk expression for employees who are nursing. These employees don’t have to use their other paid breaks, such as lunchtime, for this purpose. This paid break will run for 3 years from the date of the child’s birth. Employers may not discriminate against an employee who chooses to express breast milk in the workplace. There is no small business exception. This is the first state to enact such a law. Will others follow suit? #IdeaoftheDay
