A final OSHA rule, which updates the Walking-Working Surfaces Standards, became effective on January 17, 2017. It is expected to impact 112 million workers at 7 million worksites. The rule is designed to prevent fatalities and injuries. Workers must be trained in fall hazards by May 17, 2017. Some equipment changes must be made by November 17, 2018; others by November 17, 2019.
