OSHA released a proposed rule on heat injury and illness prevention in indoor and outdoor work settings. It recognizes that “Heat is the leading cause of death among all hazardous weather conditions in the United States.” The proposed rule, if finalized, would apply to all employers conducting outdoor and indoor work in general industry, construction, maritime, and agriculture. It would require employers to create a Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (HIIPP) to evaluate and control heat hazards in the workplace. There would also be recordkeeping and other administrative obligations. #IdeaoftheDay
