Today is the start of 2018 and most federal offices are closed. It is also the day for changes in a number of state and local sales tax rates, minimum wage rates, and gas tax. And starting today, under a new Ohio law, out-of-state sellers that customers connect with through apps are required to collect and remit sales tax to Ohio; the apps create a “nexus” between sellers and the state under Ohio law.
