As required by the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2021, VA’s Center for verification and evaluation of veteran-owned businesses will be transferred to SBA effective January 1, 2023. Because of this, the SBA has proposed new rules for a certification program for veteran-owned small businesses (VO SBC) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVO SBC). The purpose of the programs is to qualify for VA contracts. Under existing rules, the federal government aims to award at least 3% of all federal contracting dollars to SDVOSBs each year.
