The DOL announced a final rule setting reasonable limits on the amount of time tipped employees can spend on non-tipped activities when the employer receives a tip credit toward the minimum wage base. This “dual jobs” final rule says work that is part of the tipped occupation includes work that produces tips as well as work that directly supports tip-producing work, provided the directly supporting work is not performed for a substantial amount of time.
