The Small Business Investment Opportunity Act, a bi-partisan measure, was signed into law on June 21, 2018. It increases the amount of leverage available to a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) from $150 million to $175 million. And the Small Business 7(a) Lending Oversight Reform Act, another bi-partisan measure, became law on June 24, 2018. It enhances the Small Business Administration (SBA) oversight authorities of its small business guaranteed lending program, the 7(a) loan program. These measures should enhance access to capital for small businesses.
