According to the National Retail Federation, 84% of consumers will celebrate Mother’s Day, and spending is expected to dip slightly from last year’s record total of $35.7 billion to $33.5. The most popular gift categories: flowers, greeting cards, and special outings. But the most dollars got toward jewelry, special outings, and electronics. While 32% of consumers are shopping for today at department stores and 29% at specialty stores, 35% are shopping online and another 25% are shopping at local or small businesses.
