More than Half a Million ERC Claims Still Unprocessed

The National Taxpayer Advocate said that as of April 2025, there were nearly 600,000 employee retention credit (ERC) claims had yet to be processed. This is so even though the period for making a claim ended on April 15, 2025. To date, the IRS has issued letters for approximately 84,000 returns claiming the ERC, partially or fully disallowing the claims. She urges the IRS to “finish the job” by the end of this year and, in doing so, prioritize hardship cases. #IdeaoftheDay
