The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 requires group health plans to give benefits for mental and addiction treatment on a par with those for medical or surgical benefits. The Treasury, DOL, and HHS proposed rules for group health plans to collect and evaluate relevant data on access to mental health and substance use disorder (MH/SUD) benefits as compared with medical/surgical (M/S) benefits. The aim is to ensure there’s comparable access to in-network MH/SUD and M/S providers. #IdeaoftheDay
