The SBA announced that two-thirds of small businesses are having difficulty accessing credit. Some administrative changes to SBA lending rules may help. Another is The Access Business Credit (ABC) Tax, which would incentivize lending by small community banks (those with assets under $50 million) by allowing them to exclude from their income the interest received on loans to small businesses up to $5 million. The definition of “small businesses” is based on the one used under the Small Business Act, which usually means up to 500 employees, but depending on the industry can mean those with revenue of over $40 million and up to 1,500 employees. This measure was introduced in the previous session of Congress and, obviously, did pass then. #IdeaoftheDay
