The tax season is underway. Who’s minding tax collections now? The new Secretary of the Treasury is Scott Bessent. The acting Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service is Douglas O’Donnell, who stepped in when Commissioner Werfel resigned on January 17th, effective January 20th (inauguration day). O’Donnell previously served as an acting commissioner. Awaiting confirmation is the President’s pick: former Congressman Billy Long. #IdeaoftheDay
