Today is the commemoration of the ending of slavery in the U.S. and was designated as a federal holiday in 2021. The majority of states recognize this day of commemoration. Today is also referred to as Jubilee Day, Emancipation Day, and Black Independence Day. The U.S. Postal Service, many banks, and other businesses are closed today in observance of Juneteenth. The national theme this year is “Juneteenth Brings Balance to America’s Celebration of Freedom.” Learn more about this holiday. #IdeaoftheDay
