That’s what the U.S. Supreme Court said in a recent case. The case involved a police officer who was transferred from being a plains-clothes officer to a uniformed one. Her pay and benefits stayed the same, but she no longer dealt with higher ranking officers and lost access to an unmarked take-home vehicle; she also had a less regular schedule involving weekend shifts. The court said an employee challenging a job transfer under Title VII must show that the transfer brought about some harm with respect to an identifiable term or condition of employment, but that harm need not be significant. While this case involved an employee in the public sector, the reasoning could apply to those in the private sector. #IdeaoftheDay
