The law, which is part of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 (P.L. 114-74), bars states from taxing Internet access. This ban is a permanent one. A half dozen states are currently taxing Internet access; such taxes must be eliminated by June 30, 2020.
