This holiday is a boom to retailers. The National Retail Federation reports that 157 million Americans will celebrate the holiday. Total spending on costumes, candy, decorations, greeting cards, visiting a haunted house, and dressing their pets will reach $8.4 billion this year (up from $6.9 billion in 2015). The average spending is $82.93, up from $74.34 last year.
