According to the National Taxpayers Union Foundation, the cost to small businesses for obtaining a private letter ruling from the IRS is pricey. Currently, the user fee is $3,000 for those with gross income less than $250,000, $8,500 for those with gross income between $250,000 and $1 million, and $38,000 for those with higher gross income. This cost discourages small businesses from asking for advice. While the fees have remained unchanged since 2022, they could be increased in 2025. #IdeaoftheDay
