Today, the minimum wage rates go up today in a number of states, including Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Some rates will rise on July 1. The state rate applies if it is higher than the basic federal rate of $7.25 per hour. Find details for rates in your location from the National Conference of State Legislatures. Reminder: Display your state’s labor department posters reflecting new rates.
