Historically, under National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) practices, an employer could refuse to recognize a union unless there was a vote to show a majority of workers wanted one. Now, the NLRB says a union can be recognized even if there’s no vote but merely a claim of majority support. An employer can still ask for an election by filing a petition with the NLRB within 2 weeks of receiving a union’s demand for recognition. #IdeaoftheDay
