According to the National Taxpayer Advocate’s Mid-Year Report, the IRS has a backlog of about 1.4 million employee retention credit (ERC) refund claims that have been submitted but not yet paid. Delays are due in part to concerns that a high percentage of these claims may be non-qualifying. Many businesses have waited a year or longer. The report urges the IRS to move forward to protect the taxpayer’s “right to finality.” #IdeaoftheDay
