Rhode Island became the first state to require employers with at least 4 employees to make reasonable accommodations for an employee’s menopause or related condition (the effects of vasomotor symptoms). Starting January 1, 2026, employers must distribute written notice that employees are free from discrimination and have the right to reasonable accommodations for menopause and related conditions. Accommodations could include adjusting the temperature or providing fans, relaxing a uniform requirement, or offering more frequent breaks. No accommodation is required if it imposes an undue hardship on the business. #IdeaoftheDay
