Employee Leave Time for Donating Blood or Organs

Many states have laws governing the length of time and whether it’s paid leave for employees who donate blood, bone marrow, or organs. For example, starting January 1, 2026, Oregon says employees can use their sick leave to donate blood. Note: The rules vary considerably. In some states, donor laws only apply to employers with 15 or more employees; in others, the laws apply regardless of the number of employees. #IdeaoftheDay
