Workers earning under a specified amount (currently $23,660) must receive time and a half if they work more than 40 hours a week. The previous administration had raised it to $47,476, but a federal court enjoined the government from implementing and enforcing the rule. Now the DOL has proposed a new threshold: expected to be about $35,308 when it goes into effect in January 2020 (assuming the final rule is adopted by then).
