Employees are living a greater distance from their employer than ever before, according to research from Gusto. According to the research, “The rise of remote and hybrid work has been one of the most profound and long-lasting economic legacies of the COVID-19 pandemic – a change reflected in the increasingly large distance the average worker lives from his or her employer.” Those living more than 50 miles from their employer rose from 0.8% in 2019 to 5.5% at the end of 2023, with millennials and highest-earning workers driving the most. But due to remote and hybrid work, they aren’t making the drive daily. Impact for employers: a wider range for the job pool. #IdeaoftheDay
