The Identity Theft Resource Center 2024 Data Breach Report tracked 3,158 data compromises (just 44 fewer than in 2023), resulting in more than 1.7 billion notices to victims. The main industries compromised: financial services (commercial banks and insurance companies), healthcare, professional services, manufacturing, and education. The report also found that “a significant number of data compromises could have been avoided with basic cybersecurity,” so check your cybersecurity practices and procedures. #IdeaoftheDay
