Companies that raise money on Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms do so with a promise that the funds will be used as promised. If not, legal action may result. Washington State attorney general filed a complaint last month for consumer fraud against Altius Management, a company that raised over $25,000 from over 800 contributors for a playing card game (and other rewards) which was to be delivered in December, 2012; nothing was ever delivered to the Kickstarter contributors. This seems to be the first such legal action related to broken promises to crowdfunding contributors.
