Today is a national holiday in the U.S.; most federal offices are closed. The FLSA does not require you to give employees the day off or pay anything special to employees who work today, (unless overtime rules apply), but you can always choose to do so. About 16% of employers give this day off, but likely not retailers or those in the food service industry.
