Check for New State and Local Laws Effective October 1

Some states and localities have new laws that became effective on October 1, 2021. For example, Florida increased its minimum wage to $10 per hour (and display new posters reflecting this rate). It also imposed a new reporting rule for businesses using independent contractors to report them, as well as employees, purportedly for the purposes of child support collections. Check with your state and locality for new laws applicable to you. Note: The minimum wage in Ontario, CA, also increased on October 1. #IdeaoftheDay
