According to the Chargebacks911 2026 Field Report, 83.4% of enterprise merchants have seen an increase over the past 3 years in friendly fraud (which occurs when a customer disputes a legitimate purchase or because they forgot they bought it). And 38% said chargeback costs are now influencing the prices of their goods and services; 62% of merchants said that refund abuse is a moderate or significant concern.
