The Affordable Care Act created a 40% tax on deluxe health care plans (costs over $10,200 for self-only coverage or $27,500 for family coverage). It was supposed to take effect in 2018, but was initially delayed until 2020. A federal short-term spending bill signed into law on January 22, 2018, delays it again until 2022.
